A generous donation from one of our long time supporters Liz Tidyman has enable the purchase of a rather fantastic digital projector for our Kid's Night Out events! Hard to tell from the gym camera but it works rather well in the second room and is BRIGHT :) I'm sure we'll find some great uses for it aside from just playing the kid's stuff and we do have a B13 Ultimatum DVD to show – when should the first movie night be?

Studio Audience Call-Out for King 5 morning show New Day Northwest

Besides posting to use the longest title ever, I’m letting everyone know that we’d love to have you in the audience tomorrow, Tuesday June 22, as we demo and discuss parkour on New Day Northwest. Our segmen will be reletively short, but it would still be wonderful to fill he audience with so many parkour-positive people to support the host as we teach some basics :) You’re quite welcome to bring or invite others as well. Details:  If interested, you need to arrive at 9:30 a.m., and should expect to be there until 11:30 a.m., (you’ll get the entire morning show experience.) You should RSVP to newdaytickets@king5.com so as to recieve instructions from the Audience Coordinator about what to do and where to go when you get there. The KING-TV studios are downtown Seattle at 333 Dexter Ave N, (the corner of Dexter and Harrison.) There is a parking lot with a limited number of spaces directly across the street from the station on Dexter.  There’s also plenty of paid street parking in the area, as well. We hope to see you out there tomorrow!

Strawberry Festival Fun

Despite four hours of constant rain, Justin, Janine, Kelly and I had a great time at Burien’s Strawberry Festival today. Thanks to Gina Kallman, the Recreation Supervisor, who invited us, ensured that we had a tent and table ready, and posted us next to a perfect outcropping of walls. (Even wet, this concrete was sticky!) We happily–and soggily–proceeded to discover this environment through play, explaining to the interested why we were doing so. And there certainly was interest! From those who’d heard of it, to those who hadn’t, we had a constant flow of engaged onlookers. From event staff–volunteers, security, and coordinators–to the passers-by asking questions, everyone that we spoke with were upbeat and pleasant, no matter that hoods were drawn and umbrellas unfurled. It was an all-around perfect opportunity to show-by-doing how parkour is just about moving in your environment, no matter what, and having fun doing it.

PKV Summer Newsletter

A Parkour Summer

It’s exciting to reflect on where we are going as both an organization and a community. Already many use the gym space as a safe place to explore their movement, but also to relax before or afterward. We’ve had training gatherings, tests of skill, celebrations, and meals together. Every day that people show up to train, personal victories are had, and laughter ensues.  We’re really doing it. It’s happening; a space for our unusual community to thrive. Thank you for continuing to support us, and may this summer be full of safe, happy training!
