Interested in taking free classes and helping the community grow?

The Work Trade Program is a volunteer program for adults and teens 16+. Through volunteering, you’ll help the community grow, engage deeper with parkour, and generally have a great time! You can volunteer occasionally, or as a work trade volunteer, you can commit to three months of regular volunteering in exchange for free classes.

Work Trade

Work trade volunteers take free classes for the season in exchange for volunteering. Work trade is available for youth class assistants and event volunteers who make a 3-month commitment. Please select which work trade option you are interested in on your application:

  • If you volunteer 12 hours per season, you can take one hour of class per week.

  • If you volunteer 24 hours per season, you can take unlimited classes per week.

All volunteers must attend two trainings before volunteering. Please email us for training dates!

Volunteers who are 18+ must pass a background check before working with children.

Volunteer Expectations

  • Volunteers are expected to be on time for their shifts, communicate in advance about absences, follow all PKV policies, complete the minimum time commitment, and behave professionally.

  • Volunteers are entitled to a welcoming work environment, clear communication, and good training.

  • Volunteers are NOT expected to handle any serious disciplinary issues, coach regularly, or do anything they don't feel comfortable with.

  • Volunteers can expect to help our community grow, engage deeper with parkour practice and philosophy, and generally have a fun time volunteering.

FAQ

What happens after I apply?
After you apply, we will send you an info email with the dates of our volunteer trainings and currently available positions that match your interests. If you are 18+ you will receive an email requesting that you fill out a background check. After you pass the background check and confirm you can attend the trainings, we will confirm your volunteer schedule.

What should I do if I can’t make my assigned shift?
Please let the volunteer coordinator know as soon as possible. If you miss more than one work trade shift, you may be removed from the program.

What if I miss the beginning of the season? Can I join late?
At this time, we’re not able to accept applicants late in the season, but you are welcome to apply for next season.

What if I miss a volunteer training? Is there a make-up opportunity?
The in-person training has no make-up option. The second training is online and has two dates to choose from. If you miss either training, you will not be able to volunteer with us this season, but you can apply again next season.

Do I need experience to volunteer?
No experience is needed unless you are volunteering to lead events. Event leaders should have some previous experience coaching or facilitating events.

Do I need to submit to a background check if I only want to volunteer at events for adults?
Yes, you will need to pass a background check. Our adult events are 16+, so you may be working with minors as a volunteer.
