Parkour Visions’ Band System
What is the Band System?
The Parkour Visions Band System helps coaches, parents, and students track progress, stay motivated, and access higher-level or specialized classes.
Rather than fostering competition, the band system encourages personal growth and continuous improvement— one of the core principles of parkour.

Why Bands Matter
The Parkour Visions Band System is designed to enhance the learning experience and create a supportive, structured progression for students. Here’s how it benefits our community:
Improved Focus – Students develop a deeper understanding of fundamental skills, allowing for more engaged and effective learning.
Better Class Grouping – Classes are structured by skill and focus level, ensuring students train alongside peers at a similar stage of progression.
Increased Motivation – Clear milestones encourage students to set goals, stay committed, and celebrate their achievements.
Specialized Training – As students advance, they gain access to higher-level instruction tailored to their growing abilities.
Stronger Community & Growth – The system nurtures long-term physical, mental, and emotional development while fostering a sense of belonging.
Connection to Parkour’s Core Values – Rooted in the ethos of être fort pour être utile ("be strong to be useful") and Yamakasi principles, the band system reinforces self-motivation, resilience, and the drive to push past personal limits.
This structure helps students not only progress in parkour but also build lifelong skills in perseverance, adaptability, and self-improvement.
How Bands are Earned
On their first day of class, students receive their White Band from their Lead Coach, marking the beginning of their parkour journey. After six weeks of classes, they become eligible to test for the next level, the Yellow Band.
Once they pass the test, they receive their new band from the assessing coach. This progression continues through each level, culminating in the highest achievement—the Black Band.
