Meet Your Coach trainers

Jupiter Ceilidh (Portland)

Jupiter began training at Revolution Parkour Beaverton over 10 years ago. He has cross-trained extensively in weight training, rock climbing, trampoline, tricking, and freerunning, although his main focus has always been on precision, balance, power, and breaking through mental barriers. Through physical therapy and dedication, he has overcome numerous injuries and general lack of fitness to live in a healthier body than he ever thought possible.

Brayden Schorfaar (Seattle)

Brayden joins us with over 10 years of parkour and skiing experience. He has coached parkour at Dynasty Fitness in Issaquah and is currently a student at Bellevue College. He’s dyed his hair nearly two dozen times and loves music, landscape photography, reading, and films. Brayden is also our volunteer coordinator.

FAQ

What are the prerequisites?

For physical skills, you must be able to jump with both feet off the ground and get up and down comfortably from the ground multiple times in a row. You should not have any significant injuries that will prevent you from performing movements like climbing, jumping, rolling, vaulting, or quadrupedal movement.

Students who assist PKV youth classes must pass a background check prior to being admitted to the program (or a parental consent form for minors). First aid certification and child safeguarding training are recommended prior to starting this program.

Do I need prior parkour experience?

Prior parkour experience is preferred but not required. This program is approachable for people with other coaching or dynamic movement practice.

How old do I need to be?

You must be 16+ years old to participate in this program.

What is the refund policy?

We can provide refunds up to one week prior to the first session. If you start the program but aren’t able to complete it, you can re-take the program the next time it’s offered at no additional cost.

What happens if I have to miss a session?

You can miss up to two hours of in-person or online training and still complete the program.

If you miss an in-person training session, you won’t be able to complete the program. So please ensure you can attend. If you miss an online session, your coach will send you the homework from the session and notes on what we went over. You’ll be expected to be caught up by the time you return to training. Your coach must be notified in advance of an absence.

If you miss too much training time and are unable to fully complete the program, you can retake it the next season.

Do I have to assist in classes?

If you are not already coaching or assisting in classes with another organization, you will be required to assist with us.

Why do I have to assist youth classes at PKV?

The challenge of teaching youth will help your coaching progress more quickly. Coaching youth allows you to practice a wider range of group management and communication skills. Plus, there is a higher need in our youth programs, as children require more support in their parkour development.

Will I get to assist adult classes?

No, but you may attend our adult classes on your own time. Scholarships may be avaible.

What if I don’t have enough time for every session or assisting classes?

If you do not have the time to complete this training, we recommend you wait. In order to get the most out of this program, it’s imperative you attend each session and make time for the necessary experiential component (assisting classes). It's an ongoing process that builds on itself, laying a strong foundation for your coaching and parkour practice.

Will there be future job opportunities at Parkour Visions after I complete this program?

This course is designed to help you improve your coaching skills, which can, in turn, improve your job prospects. PKV hires coaches regularly. While employment is not guaranteed, you are welcome to apply.

Check parkourvisions.org/jobs to see what positions we have open.
