About Leap to Lead

Leap to Lead is our curriculum for learning parkour and leadership. Parkour is so much more than an amazing movement style. Parkour is a way of life.

At PKV, we believe everyone is a leader. While not everyone leads others, everyone leads their own life. Leadership means bringing responsibility into your life–both taking responsibility for personal actions and choosing which responsibilities to own and pursue.

We cultivate leadership ability through these four elements:

  • Movement education

  • Civic empowerment

  • Community engagement

  • Self-expression

The Four Elements of Parkour Practice

Movement Education

Movement brings us together. Through practice, we gain physical, mental, and emotional strength, confidence, and creativity. By refining our ability to find challenge in movement we develop control over our own well-being.

Our movement education starts with self-preservation, which encompasses preparation for physical activity, recovery and nutrition, and falling safety. We practice with a growth and longevity mindset.

Self-coaching involves honest internal assessment, goal-setting, and developing a positive relationship with ourselves and our practice.

Self-control unifies and applies these habits. By combining our physical techniques and mental abilities, self-control empowers us to navigate safely and effectively through any challenge in our lives.

Civic Empowerment

At PKV, we work to make a difference in the places we live, work, and play through leadership and environmental stewardship.

Movement practices have great potential to create and unite diverse communities and to empower citizens to develop an ownership mindset around their environment. We encourage you to take active roles in your community and initiate positive change at the civic level.

Community Engagement

We want to create a space that is inclusive, equitable, and diverse. There is so much to learn from the different perspectives and expertise of others, and when we work together we can achieve so much more!

There are many ways to participate in movement communities: practicing with others, developing teamwork and support networks, creating and attending events, and sharing parkour with others. The L2L curriculum prepares students to participate in and contribute to a community of care and collaboration.

Self Expression

Creativity is essential to whole health. As humans, we are naturally curious and primed to adapt to new situations through problem-solving and play.

Movement can be a profoundly creative act, as is how we choose to grow, improve, and share our movement with others. Self expression is about finding your voice and style and creating your own path for play. It also is about sharing your values, interests, and unique experiences.
